Call for Scores

The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle (COT) is seeking works for string quartet to be performed with live dance performance. Works should be 12 minutes or more in length and can be through composed or made up of individual movements.

If selected, composers must be willing to work with the choreographer to make score adjustments in line with choreographic needs. Adjustments may include cuts, elisions, or reordering of movements.

If selected, the work will be performed by The COT’s Fellowship String Quartet in Fall 2024, in collaboration with dance.

Deadline for submission is April 15, 2024. Please send all submission materials to info@thecot.org

Compensation:

  • The composer of the selected composition will receive $1,000.  

  • The composer will be awarded a travel stipend of up to $500 to attend the work’s premiere with dance.

  • The composer will also receive a video of the performance.

Composition Guidelines

  • Submitted works must be longer than 12 minutes in duration. 

  • Compositions must be scored for string quartet.

  • Submissions can be through composed or be made up of various movements

  • Submitted works may be previously performed and/or awarded.

  • Composers must submit .pdf(s) or links to the score for consideration. 

  • Composers may make multiple submissions

  • Links to previous recordings or midi files are required for the choreographer.

  • There is no restriction on age or experience. 

  • Deadline for submission is April 15, 2024.

  • Please send all submission materials to info@thecot.org

  • All submissions will be reviewed by the Artistic Leadership of the COT, as well as the COT’s partnering dance organization

  •  All entrants will be notified by May 1, 2024.
